Issues

These are some items from recent city council agendas and my opinions.

Please contact me and let me know what you consider to be key issues for Golden.

Check back as I update the list as the year progresses.

Budget ‘Rainy Day’ Reserve

March 2025

In these days where Federal Funding is chaotic and the State Budget faces a shortfall, it’s comforting that Golden currently carries a reserve.  I support maintaining that reserve while continuing to monitor how Golden’s revenue is impacted by Federal and State changes.

Creek Usage

March 2025

I support council’s current plans continuing to monitor the use of the creek and limit tube rentals when the city has other major events.

Ore Cart

March 2025

In case you haven’t had a chance to use it yet – the Ore Cart is a Golden/Mines free shuttle service operating 7 days a week serving downtown Golden, Mines Campus, Jefferson County RTD W line station, and dozens of other destinations around the city. I support the continued underwriting of the Ore Cart and would like to see it expanded to go further and serve the areas upslope – like the top of Beverly Heights, etc.

Pesticide Free Parks

March 2025

I support the continuing efforts to expand the number of Pesticide Free Parks in Golden.  I have seen dogs and children playing in the Beverly Heights Park after spraying for weed control and fertilizer applications.

Solar Garden

March 2025

I support the planned Solar Garden.  I have a solar array on my roof but many people can’t afford the expense of building a solar array, live in an apartment and can’t build on their roofs, or don’t have roofs with good solar conditions.   The Solar Park is a great way for people to participate in solar energy generation and credits.

Trail Connectivity

April 2025

My wife and I are avid users of the trails (biking and walking) around Golden. I biked to the Laramie Building while working for the Jefferson County Election Office in 2024. We frequently bike to Olde Town Arvada or Morrison for a fun lunch. You may see us walking our dogs (we have two Scottish Deerhounds) around town on the trails. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants when it comes to the excellent trail system our predecessors invested in for our benefit

I support the maintenance and enhancement of the trail system around Golden. I look forward to the continued expansion of the Peaks to Plains Trail.

I support continuing to work with Jefferson County and our neighboring cities to enhance our trail network. Not only does this enhance our property values but it helps reduce congestion and contribute to visitors to Golden.
